The so-called “Duke’s Plan” of New York – named for James, Duke of York by George H. Moore

Librarian at the New York Historical Society, who re-discovered the map in the collections of the British Museum in 1858. Published in 1664, shortly after the British take-over of the island, this map is almost certainly based on a survey of 1661 by Jacques Cortelyou, Surveyor of the New Netherlands.
