A 1751 map of Siberia, Kamchatka, North America and the North Pacific

Created by Philippe Buache, a leading Franch cartographer who trained under Guillaume de l’Isle, himself a producer of very accurate and popular maps. A major curiosity of this map is the very large bay, or inland sea, in the area of present-day British Columbia. This is not shown on our 1790 map of the Bhering Straits (M124).
