A map of Armenia, taken from Johann David Köhler’s Schul-und Reisen-Atlas
His atlas was a German school atlas published in 1718. Köhler later became the first Professor of History at the new University of Göttingen. The map dates from a period of calm between the Persian Safavids and the Ottoman Turks. Under the Treaty of Zuhab (1639), they agreed a division of Armenia between them, thus ending 150 years of territorial disputes and aggression.
